What Chronomancy Is

Chronomancy is a present-moment awareness app that sends you random pings throughout the day and lets you record field readings (UP/DOWN observations). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Account information: Email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
Field readings: Your UP/DOWN responses, timestamps, optional tags, notes, and photos you choose to submit.
Ping settings: Your preferred active hours, ping frequency, and notification preferences.
Session data: Duration and completion status of focused scanning sessions you create.
Device token: Your Apple Push Notification token, if you enable push notifications.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Location data
Contacts or address book
Health or fitness data
Browsing history
Advertising identifiers
Analytics or tracking SDKs (we use none)

How Pings Work (Offline)

Daily pings are generated locally on your device using a deterministic algorithm. No internet connection is required for notifications to fire. Your ping schedule never leaves your device unless you choose to sync settings to a new device.

How We Use Your Data

To deliver the core app experience (account management, syncing settings across devices).
To aggregate anonymized field readings for collective research (no individual data is ever published).
To send you the one daily synchronized ping that all users receive at the same time.

Data Storage and Security

Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain (encrypted, hardware-backed).
Photos are stored locally in the app's sandboxed Documents directory.
Server data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections.
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plaintext.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. If you choose to share a field reading to the community Telegram channel, that action is explicit and optional.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us.

Your Rights

Access your data at any time through the app.
Delete your account and all data by contacting us.
Export your field readings by request.

Children

Chronomancy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
